Grown in the highlands of Ethiopia’s Guji Alaka region, this coffee offers a balanced, full-bodied cup perfect for any time of day.

Tasting Notes

Rich chocolate and hazelnut flavours are complemented by a subtle cherry finish. The Duchess blend is smooth yet complex, delivering a delightful coffee experience from the first sip.

Roast Profile

Medium roast to enhance the natural sweetness of the chocolate and hazelnut, while preserving the delicate fruity notes for a refined finish.

Origin

Sourced from the Guji Alaka region in Ethiopia, where the beans are grown at altitudes of 1,800–2,212 MASL by smallholder farmers using traditional methods. This area’s fertile, loamy soil and natural shade-growing environment contribute to the exceptional quality of the beans.

Processing Method

Sun-dried and naturally processed over 2-3 weeks, allowing the coffee cherries to develop a rich, full-bodied flavour. Hand-picked by local farmers, the beans are dried under shade to preserve their integrity.

Recommended Brew Methods

Flat White: The velvety milk balances the chocolate and nutty notes perfectly.

Latte: Creamy milk enhances the blend’s smooth finish and cherry undertones.

Espresso: A bold, full-bodied option with rich chocolate depth.

Sustainability

The Duchess blend is sourced from smallholder farmers in Ethiopia, who use sustainable practices to grow and process the beans. The Guji Alaka coffee farming community is dedicated to preserving the environment and supporting the local economy through ethical practices.

Brewing Tips

For espresso, we recommend 18-20 grams of coffee with a brewing temperature between 93-95°C. Adjust grind size to suit your machine and taste preferences.

Flavour Profile

Chocolate, hazelnut, and cherry come together in a smooth, balanced cup. Perfect for those who appreciate a refined, full-bodied coffee experience.

About the Farmers

The Guji Alaka coffee is grown by smallholder farmers in the Oromia region. Each farmer cultivates small plots of land under natural forest cover, where coffee cherries are hand-picked and carefully processed. The local community works together to produce high-quality, sustainable coffee that reflects the rich tradition and natural beauty of the region.
